Steel Sheet Piles have been used for many years in various types of construction projects commonly used for tunnel portals, in Marine locations for riverbank protection and sea walls. Pilequip has been supplying Sheet Piles for about 15 years, we found a niche for Steel sheet Piling amongst the piling and foundation industry. Sheet piles are sections of sheet steel with interlocking edges that are driven into the ground to provide earth retention and excavation support. Vibro hammers like the PTC Vibro, are often used to install sheet piles, although if soils are too hard/dense impact hammers in this scenario a stronger PTC Hammer can be used. On building projects Sheet Piling is often used to keep very deep local elements of the foundation out like soil, water, concrete, and any other substances that could interfere with your job site out e.g. core or lift overruns. By using sheet Piles, you can efficiently form a wall and prevent your wall from collapsing onto your work area, where sheet piles are used in a permanent capacity they may need protective coatings, if the sheet pile is sealed with the correct sealant you are almost guaranteed that it will be water tight, Sheet Piles may need to do Cathodic protection which is a technique used to control the corrosion of a metal surface. The length of the sheet piles will be determined by your job site requirement Sheet Piling is available in different sizes and 2 main shapes are normally used.
